He is known and highly esteemed in courts throughout Massachusetts as a skilled and experienced criminal defense attorney.

Prior to entering private practice, Attorney Galvin worked for years as a Suffolk County Assistant District Attorney where he prosecuted thousands of criminal offenses. As Superior Court prosecutor in the Boston Gang Unit, Attorney Galvin prosecuted cases involving motor vehicular homicides, armed home invasions, robberies, kidnappings, armed assaults, drug trafficking and school zone violations, firearm violations, and shootings. He handled those cases from start to finish, including supervising investigations, conducting Grand Jury investigations and indictments, arguing motions, and trying and winning jury trials. In addition to his duties as a gang unit prosecutor, Attorney Galvin also served as the “on-call” prosecutor for the Boston Police Department for the downtown Boston, Jamaica Plain, Hyde Park, and Brighton neighborhoods. He also served the community by volunteering as an Instructor for the Citizen’s Schools’ after-school mock trial program for students in grades six through eight at the McCormack Middle School.

Attorney Galvin also served as an on-call response lawyer for Suffolk County homicides. Serving in that capacity, Attorney Galvin responded to police calls for homicide crime scenes and provided assistance to police personnel by reviewing search warrants, analyzing legal issues, and acting as the liaison between the police and the Chief of the Homicide Unit for the District Attorney.

When working in the District Courts, Attorney Galvin was soon promoted to the position of court supervisor, ultimately supervising the Central Division of the Boston Municipal Court as well as the Dorchester Division of the Boston Municipal Court. He not only personally handled thousands of misdemeanor and felony cases including OUI, driving offenses, drug cases, gun cases, assault and battery cases, and larceny, but he also supervised all of the other Assistant District Attorneys and staff in those courts. In addition to supervising the attorneys and the thousands of criminal cases in each of those courts, he also had responsibilities to train police and attorneys on court procedures, techniques, and updates in the law.

Prior to his work as a criminal attorney, Attorney Galvin spent years working as a criminal investigator in the City of Boston. He assisted attorneys with trial preparation for cases involving murder, rape, kidnapping, armed assault, and robbery by locating and interviewing witnesses, discovering and evaluating evidence, serving subpoenas, conducting surveillance, writing reports, preparing exhibits, and researching legal issues. As a criminal investigator, he also had experience testifying at trials and before grand juries with respect to information learned and evidence obtained during investigations.

Attorney Galvin graduated Cum Laude from the New England School of Law where he was named a New England Scholar and served as Editor of the New England Journal of Criminal and Civil Confinement. He also graduated Magna Cum Laude from Iona College in New Rochelle, NY.
